High-Intensity vs Low-Intensity Work Out Classes

When you’re comparing high intensity and low intensity workouts, the key difference is effort.

One of the reasons why we’re always adding new content to the ness digital on demand library, is so your ideal workout is right at your fingertips. With different styles of bounce and sculpt classes ranging in coordination and intensity level, there’s something at the ready no matter what type of movement you’re in the mood for. When it comes to choosing your perfect ness digital class, it’s important to know what to expect from each session. Though our method is entirely low impact, meaning it puts less strain on your joints, we offer both low intensity workouts and high intensity workouts.

What Are High And Low Intensity Workouts?

When you’re comparing high intensity and low intensity workouts, the key difference is effort. High intensity workouts are when you are training at 75-100% of your maximum heart rate. These types of exercises are vigorous and sweaty challenging you to work at your highest energy capacity in short or long bursts depending on the style of training you’re doing. High intensity exercises include running, high intensity interval training (HIIT), and trampoline cardio. Low intensity workouts are made up of slower, sustained movements, where you’re training at around 40-50% of your maximum heart rate. Low intensity exercises include pilates, functional strength training, and sculpt classes.

What Intensity Are The Bounce And Sculpt Classes?

Let’s look at this in terms of bounce and sculpt classes on the ness digital. Though the majority of our bounce classes are low impact high intensity workouts, simple bounce, bounce stability, and bounce essentials fall into the low intensity workout category. While these classes all include cardio, all three of them are more focused on building sustained endurance or strength on the trampoline, and incorporate recovery breaks to bring your heart rate down. High intensity bounce classes would include bounce intermediate, bounce advanced, and bounce HIIT because they emphasize using your most intense effort throughout class. Duo encompasses a little bit of both - a high intensity bounce session for the first half of class followed by a generally more low intensity sculpt session.

When it comes to sculpt, with the exception of cardio sculpt, all of our sculpt classes are varying ranges of low intensity exercise. Ness stretch, designed as a recovery session, is our lowest intensity option, followed by mat sculpt which takes place entirely on the floor. Classic sculpt and ness sculpt classes increase in intensity depending on the focus and choreography in class. Cardio sculpt is our low impact high intensity sculpt option as it’s created with sprint circuits sprinkled throughout, similar to a HIIT workout.
